miley's girls

we found an excellent english golden breeder in MN
northern lights retrievers

after lulu died so young we wanted a dog that doesnt have cancer so prevalent in their lines - which unfortunately american goldens do.

These puppies are all named by color - miss orange, miss brown, miss pink etc.

the mom is miley, dad oz. miley had 11 pups and this is her first time....yikes

new store

mooreaseal.com - a great new currated online store based in seattle. 7% of each sale goes to a specific non-profit category (I chose environment) I am excited to be working with this great new team! They took such cool editorial shots too.

talent show

Ruby planned her first talent show while up north at a cabin with my parents and family. The cabin had a cool tiki bar in the basement which was the ticket booth, she made tickets for everyone, everyone came with a talent and we had a great show. It was such a success she wanted to plan one with friends so we made tickets and invites to send out to 5 of our family friends. We made a ticket booth, set up the stage and everyone came with talents - another great success!

Beforehand we grilled pizzas (everyone made their own) we used naan bread to make it easier. Made this perfect red sauce, basil pesto, sausage, pepperoni, sauted veggies and herbs from the garden. Made a salad with homemade ranch, and cut up a watermelon - easy but great. Also made this delicious fresh mint ice-cream (really a highlight of the summer)

favorites of summer

This summer has been a great one. highlights:

cabin with my parents, bro and his fam and sis and her boyfriend - caught some fish, did some kayaking, swimming, played lots of games, mike and I went on some awesome gravel road runs, drank some tequila coolers (tequila, ice, lime, agave nectar, and club soda - drink of the summer) and highlife, campfires and chilling in the tiki lounge

the north shore - already wrote about that

waterskiing and tubing at angies, hanging out with the devries and mandles and their awesome new bulldog puppy - dozer.

camping w the jacobsons at moose lake, a full summer day at the lake, late night bonfires, the secret forest trail we found at our walk-in campsite, reenacting hansel and gretel with the girls, this song

swimming lots at my in-laws pool (in my top 5 favorite places ever)

cooking out of my garden

nights out on the patio with mike sipping rose

angry trout menus

so cool. made from cardboard boxes bound with a twig.

north shore

loved it.

stayed: hand-scribed log cabin nestled in the woods on a cliff overlooking lake superior with sleeping loft with huge skylights to watch the stars complete with crazy spiral staircase (that the girls couldn't get enough of). Wood burning sauna - heaven especially since it was cold and foggy the first couple days.

played: at artist point in grand marais, tettegouche high falls, split rock light house and the cool trail to the awesome rocky beach, gooseberry falls, secret beach in silver bay, lots of agate hunting

ate: angry trout - grand marais - must try to recreate the trout chowder. new favorite camp meal foil pack with kielbasa sausage, potatoes, onion, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, zucchini and whatever herbs are growing - rosemary, thyme, tarragon, and parsley. double wrap and throw on the wood burning fire pit for about 20 minutes. follow up with smores (using thin dark chocolate - yum!
